Are you sure the two on the left are Webley screw grips ?

They look like they lock with a swinging bite that works off the top lever similar to the W & C Scott Triplex Lever Grip.

Hj, you can see the "screw" of the gun on the left in the previous photo. Note the "Patented" on the lever of the A & N in the middle. Yep, they are definitely Screw Grip guns.

The gun in the center is a Webley A & W model boxlock, a screw grip. It uses the same doll's head and screw grip arrangement as the W & R model sidelock, which is what the Evans pair in question are. All screw grips used a rib extension of some type - doll's head or straight extension - because that's what the third fastener locked on, not on the threads on the spindle.

Again, those Evans guns are illustrated in the 1914 Webley & Scott catalogue at the bottom of page 20. They're Webley W & R models, and it's quite obvious. I'm beginning to think that you just want to argue, rather than obtain answers.

I agree the gun on page 20 appears to be the Evans gun....

It reads "Patent Top Screw Treble Grip, Side Lock".

If want to call it a screw grip help yourself.

Beautiful gun and no doubt a screw grip. I was hoping someone would show a patent drawing of Mssrs. Webley's screw grip used on his Proprietary gun.

...and what do you think "Patent Top Screw Treble Grip" means?

It means it has a third bite....

Do you think Mssrs. Webley would be ashamed to call it a screw grip Proprietary gun ?

I have a Webley and Scott wholesale catalogue of 1914 . The guns in question are pictured and decribed as, "London Pattern Side-Lock Ejectors, with leaf fences and intercepting safety sears. The action is stated to be;Patent Top Screw Treble Grip". The price is given as 61 pounds with 2.5 pounds extra for leaf fences.By comparison the W.&C.Scott, Imperial is listed at 82 pounds. I once owned a pair of Evans guns that were identical to those advertised excepting that they had single triggers. These guns were serial #85** made in 1906. The guns offered for sale have lower serial numbers and are likely older.
