This mechanism has withstood the test of time. Local shop has a few of these oldies in great shape. Bubba doesn't care about better cut engraving and good hadling, they just want modern POS version with 3" chamber and mobil chokes, or whatever they call them now.

I really appreciate the feedback on my question. I have visually checked out the holes on my 12 and 20 ga S57Es and the 20 (the one with the centering lever) has a bit of ovaling evident but not much in my opinion. The pins do not appear to have any wear at all to the naked eye. So, I took them to the range and thoroughly enjoyed some five stand and skeet. While I didn't shoot as well as I used to when I shot more often, I am sure it wasn't the guns' fault! I shot a 20 at low gun skeet and a 19 at five stand...but as I haven't shot for a few months...oh, well....). I, for one, do love the overall beauty of a shotgun and the S57Es were hand engraved - I think are very nice looking guns and handle great for me and are still somewhat affordable, too. Well, thank you all again for the info!
