This is from today's USA Today Sports section...
Shooter Kim Rhode, 28, qualified last weekend for her fourth Olympics.
What's new? Oh, just a new sport, she said.
She will compete in skeet because women's double trap was dropped.
"It's like the difference between swimming and diving," said Rhode, winner of gold medals in double trap in 1996 and 2004 and bronze in 2000.
One difference, she said, is the shotgun is mounted in double trap, while in skeet, the gun rests on the hip before being raised to the shoulder when the target is pulled.
"It's like night and day," she said.
Rhode, who shoots 700 to 1,000 rounds a day, seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., wants to be ready for Beijing's humidity and heat. Living in El Monte, Calif., she works with a trainer and nutritionist, runs in the heat and plans to train in humidity rooms before continuing her preparations at Fort Benning, Ga., this summer.
One constant: her dad, Richard, is her coach. "He's pulled every target for me." Do that math.

I can't imagine the hoops she will jump through to get her gun into and out of Red China. Wonder what she shoots?

A Perazzi MX 12 29" barrels (actually not in inches, but in cm.)My personal Perazzi is a SC1T and was used by the American team in the L.A. Olympic games. It has 27 1/2 (actually 70 cm) barrels. One is for skeet and the other is for trap.

I find it difficult to believe she shoots that many shots daily. While it may be possible to get in that many shots, proper practice requires full concentration for each shot or you wind up practicing mistakes too. Not even superman could fully concentrate for 700-1000 shots. And just imagine how boring that would become about the third or fourth day, not withstanding 16 years later. At her level of shooting ability I would think a thousand fully concentrated rounds a week would more than keep her there. 1000 rds a week is the equivalent of 8 fields of skeet daily. Maybe she said 700 to 1000 daily just to get her competition to shoot themselves out before the Olympics - a little gamesmanship.

Yet another acclaim and laurel for Perazzi, the world's "Best"???
All of these 'professional' shooters using Perazzi, makes a strong case for that title!!!

Both her and her Dad should get a proper job, no wonder the U.S. economy is in a mess if they are both on benefit, and your flying them round the World just to indulge their hobby.

Back in the 60's I had a friend who got drafted. He told them he taught skeet, so they let him try out for the Army skeet team. He made it. How much did he pratice ? He claimed that everyday from when they got up to when they went to bed they shot - seven days a week. Said he dreamed about it at night. Lucky guy- while everyone else was in Naum, he traveled around Europe shooting skeet. I don't think you can pratice too much. Paul
