Ken:
Some time back there was discussion of a Lefever or maybe it was a Bakerm reproduction you folks were going to make. Is that project still alive?

Thanks

Strange that you should bring that subject up. Only yesterday I found two top line guys who are interested in making thee Lefever. I didn't want to start another thread until we were actually working on the piece. It appears that after I locate a 20 lightweight bbl/action they can copy, it will only take them approx. two weeks to download all the dimention & measurements into a CNC program. After that, it's off to the races they tell me. More to come as I'm made aware. Ken

I followed the last project thread and got all excited like many. My question is what happened to the italian? factory that was going to do it last time? Most all gun mfg people have computer numerics. If they couldn't do it is there something different about the new guys that can get our hopes up? Thank you Ken for your interest in this.

I am not a gunmaker and the people who do the machining are, but one needs to be carefull about copying the dimensions of a gun that has been used 100 years. Lots of wear in places where you wouldn't want it in a new gun.

Mr. Bomb, as I recall, the European connection was for the barrel source. Of course, it's been a while since this was discussed, and I need a review of the original thread to remember exactly what the plans were. Congratulations to Ken for continuing to fight the fight.

Daryl,
thats the beauty of cnc programing, it allows you to see in 3d how the parts interact. With very minor programing changes, surfaces that have seen wear can be machined to the original specs. This is very cool stuff and basically allows for less final fitting and hand work.CNC doesnt replace good gunmaking, but it sure can help. Congradulations to Ken for fighting the good fight. I hope to do something similar with a Westly 1897 falling block. Hope springs eternal.
Steve

Ken,
Keep the faith. I've been around and involved in a lot of big projects. A sxs is one project that makes meget that tingly feeling.
