Here's some amazing work by Welsh engraver Phil Coggan, the likes of which you will rarely, if ever, see:

Hello Bill,

Amazing work! Thank you for sharing the link.

Mr. Coggan is mentioned in Mario Abbiatico's book on gun engraving as a
decorator and painter by profession. He says he is so passionate about guns that
he made dueling pistols as a hobby for ten years. Also mentioned that he is self
taught in the art of engraving and when the book was written back in 1982, the
author says that Mr. Coggan should be signaled out for the amazing progress he
made in less than a year. He clearly has gone on to great achievements since then.

I agree this is truly amazing work BUT: Would anyone on this forum really want to carry a gun decorated that way? I'm not putting this artist down but this is way over the top as far as my tastes in firearms embellishment goes.

Jim, I agree with you entirely. I would never have a gun decorated in the way
of some of the ones shown. The bulino hunting scenes yes, the rest no.
The work is amazing nonetheless.

I would carry them in certain situations ie dove hunting, pheasant blocking, driven shooting(if I ever got to do it), maybe bobwhite hunting if it was the right situation. I would not carry it chasing blue quail as the possibility of a fall is always high.

The work is amazing. The result is ugly. Just my opinion; not looking to start a fight with anyone who loves it.

I am humbled by artists capable of such work, I am still attempting to master Cursive writing.
