"King, there is very little land in the US where one can go to 'get away from it all'. Of course, there are places you can do that - but you'd better not hope for any stores, medical care, or gasoline within 75 miles.
Canadians lead a charmed life by virtue of their proximity to the US. They have some of the most beautiful, pristine land there is - and don't have to do anything to defend it. "

GregSY,
I have to disagree about the "don't do anything to defend it." The Canadians have gone with us into every modern conflict. They are in Bosnia and Afghanistan right now and have lost many soldiers. That was a cheap shot. The Canadians are some of the best people in the world. And the Canadian Armed forces are VERY generous with their beer if you meet them in the pub. But they are a sovreign nation, not our puppets.

Posting land? What can you do? New Hampshire has a fine tradtion of not posting land against "traditional uses." The landowner who doesn't post is a saint. My land was dumped on and abused by those "traditional" users. When I move back, I'll be hard pressed not to post.
