sounds like you had a good deal, after importing a fair bit of equipment from the States, I have found a rough rule of thumb - the price in dollars of the item is equal to the price of the item in GBP once you have allowed for the shipping and VAT. There are savings to be made - but not huge ones, I look upon it as being able to source things that I couldn't normally get in GB.An excellent example is the Brownell's magnatip screwdrivers - an absolute bargain considering hom many conventional screwdrivers it would cost to get the equivalent set.
The exchange rate at the moment is probably at the best its ever been - and in our favour
