Gentlemens: To celebrate the return of the wide screen format, here are a couple pitchers of the handle of international rules Wesson that Mr. Mann is working on for me. Glenn

Very nice wood and excellent workmanship. I feel that a finely figured stock on a double gun is it's soul. Congrats on what looks like a very nice project.

Tthe wood on Glenn's rifle is a really fine piece of black walnut that has actually been kind to the stockmaker. It is a near perfect match from side to side but Glenn was kind enough not to show because it isn't checkered yet - I did have a reason trust me. I do want to point out the fine job I did on the rust bluing of the receiver although it does appear to be pealing for some odd reasone. Glenn's rifle also has a damascus skeleton butt plate and skeleton grip cap made by Glenn in his spare time.

Was that bluing? I thought it was case coloring. Thanks for sharing that, Glenn and Doug. I can't wait to see it after Ken has plied his trade. What a work of art.

The beauty of a fine checkering job is when it does not hide the grain of the wood. Super job. Are the side panels going to be checkered as well?

I'm glad to be in the "Brotherhood of Blue painters Tape". Though I was the only one.

Are the side panels going to be checkered as well? Good question. Although I am commissioning the work, I am allowed surprisingly little input into the matter. Mr. Mann, is the side panel going to be checkered? I know the other side will not because of the lock plate. Glenn

Glenn Well, since this is a nice flat panel to work with, I was considering a stick version of this carved into the side panel. Perhaps a border of inlaid mopane wood would work well with this subject matter.

Mr. Mann:
What a great idea! In fact, I think I will ask Mr. Hurst to engrave the meerkats on one side of the action. And a warthog on the other. I don't actually know as I will have any say about the engraving either, but it won't hurt to ask.
What be Mopane?
Glenn
