Here is an old trick that some of us use on antique auto screws that are frozen.
Materials needed:
8 volt wet cell battery (auto battery)
small gauge wire with alligator clips on them (like jumper cables only smaller)
How to use:
Attach clips to battery
Attach distal negative clip to receiver
Touch distal positive clip to screw head

This will cause the screw to heat up quickly and when it cools should be able to be easily turned.

Hope that this helps.
Best,
John

The proof marks are Birmingham Black Powder pre-1901. It is interesting to note that the proof marks are applied to the barrel tubes only and not the barrel flats as is normal seen. Some years ago, a leading U.K. gunmaker explained that the application of proof maks to barrel tubes rather than the flats was a practice used when a lower grade gun of this era was destined for immediate export. comments please?

Before you grab the drill, I would suggest patience and repeated applications of a GOOD penetrating oil and repeated heating with a screwdriver or copper rod to localize the heat. If you can find some Cabots TASGON, try that. It is by far the best penetrating oil I have ever used, but the EPA banned it in the 1980's because it contained creosote. It sometimes takes weeks for the oil to creep down into corroded threads. Good Luck, let us know how you make out.
