Will the owner of Parker Bros. ser. no. 117324 CH grade please contact me. I have the original 30" Bernard barrels in pretty nice condition. We need to put this fine gun back together.

With all due respects to you Dean, and your noble efforts to reunite the barrels with their gun, I have to wonder why the big fuss over Bernard steel barrels. It seems as though they are still just another form of twist/Damascus barrels, which according to my Blue Book are near worthless. Worse yet, unless I am mistaken they have the distinction of being associated with the 'F' word. That's right - France!
Is the 'craze' over Bernard tubes just another case of Huck Finn wanting someone else to paint his fence?

Bernard, as I recall, had a "Well Deserved" reputation as being a quality bbl maker. If the Blue book says they are "Worthless", then my take is the "Blue Book" is worthless.

Is this the Leopold(sp?) Bernard from Belgium(or was it France?)
His bbls are thought of as top notch or so I've heard,.
What a cool reunion that would be...hope they fit right on & lock up like a bank vault

The simple fact that the barrels are serial numbered means there is a Parker out there that is only one-half original. What ever the reason for a previous owner's decision to jettison the barrels, reuniting original barrels and action as they left the factory is an act of preserving the history of the piece... priceless to anyone with a collector's sense...even if the whole gun is a wreck and has no monetary value at least it would once again be original. Good luck Dean, your effort is commendable.

CH Grade serial number 86,988 is missing two sets of Bernard Steel barrels. If anyone knows where the back end of this gun is, please contact me. I doubt that this gun was rebarrelled in steel at the factory because the forends are still with the original Bernard barrels. The gun is now probably in parts or an amateur rebarrel job in Vulcan Steel. Help.

Of the one-hundred thousand or so Parkers made with Damascus or twist barrels of one type or another (total Parkers made were some 242,000 plus) only about 370 Parkers were were made with Bernard barrels and only in C grade and a mere handful in higher grades. How many remain today? How many remain in uncut, good condition? So, maybe they're not scarce or rare but they are certainly uncommon and they are certainly not worthless. . . just ask someone who needs or desperately wants a set what they would be willing to pay for a set of Bernard barrels. I know I paid dearly for this set. 2-frame, 12 gauge, 30" uncut. But my primary goal is to reunite this set with the original Parker. I suspect an early owner ordered a set of ACME steel barrels, stopped using these Bernard barrels, simply leaving them standing in a case or closet and eventually became seperated from the gun. Or, maybe not. . .

Bernard barrels were/are a true piece of artistry in steel as well as being "hell for stout!" The Blue Book DOES make mistakes and IMHO the "worthless" comment is one of them. I certainly hope this bit of history can be preserved, would love to see some pix. Best, Dr. BILL
