I have a old double barrel shot gun with exposed hamers and i believe damacus twist barrels. It has the words Canons Damas
in gold letters on the rib on top. there is also Andrea on one
side and Cuomo on the outher side.
I would like to find out how old and about the maker.

thanks for any help

Welcome to the Board.

Plenty of knowledge here to answer your question. But, need more information and you will find it by taking the shotgun apart and telling us what you see on the barrel flats. Those proofmarks should give us the needed information to flesh out the French (or Belgian) "Canons Damas" (Damascus Barrels).

Thanks for the reply,

I have removed the front stock and removed the barrels, the only
flat I found is a small strip between the barrels. I did find 3
markes that looked intentional, 3 lines fanned out on one barrel and the number 1521 on the flat strip just in front of the lug of steel that the front stock is held on with. The front stock
is held on with a tapered square pin (the shape of a old nail but wider)

There might be a mark on the lower rib, but look to the left and right of the barrel lugs at the breech end. Is there a mark of crossed palm branches? So the forend is held on by a square wedge which passes thru a slot afixed to the lower rib? Any sign of a stamp of a crown?

Kind Regards,
