I have one of those too. Value has me wondering myself. I was offered 1600 7 years ago with only a crappy picture on the net. wasn't considering selling back then though.

I think Walt Snyder offers the service, I'm sure he'll be around soon.
Do you guys feel that a factory letter brings enough additional money to warrant the cost?

I use factory letters to verify to the customer that the gun is original as shipped from factory. It isnt a matter of cost but so that I can be as sure as I can that I am telling the customer the truth.
I have been on the buying end a couple of times when I was told "its factory original" and things didnt quite seem right, but they didnt actually seem wrong. The letter usually clears that up.

I think factory letters add value to people that are virgin in the gun arena or out of there genre. They are not sure of themself and the letter will make a big difference.

Brian, if past experience is any guide to the present, Walt will probably ask you for the serial and let you know what he's got on it. I provided the serial for an NID Field 12/28 and Walt kindly responded that it shipped to H&D Folsom Sept. 37. I can't remember receiving that type of info re: my 1918 Flues 4e but Walt was very helpful (as was his book) in ascertaining the factory originality of the "lightwgt" swamped or "ramped" rib barrels. I was led astray by Brit reproof on the barrelset and Walt put me back on the path. If there was the slightest hint that an emolument was commanded or even just welcomed in return for the information, I sure don't remember it.

To really appreciate a high grade Flues you have to see the entire gun; its wood, the checkering pattern, and of course its engraving and add to that it's wicked A$$ lock time; stunning absolutely stunning!!! And I appreciate the warning Brian!!! I'm tired of bagging the back of my head against the wall when I open up one of Walt's or Chuck's posts!!!!
