Let's see. You are asking writers to contribute stories so that you can publish them, presumably for profit? You offer them a free copy, but apparently copies to the general public will not be free? Did I miss something here?

Chief, yeah, you missed the statement that all published authors will be able to buy a copy at cost. I've been writing and getting published for many years (30+ stories in Gray's Sporting Journal) and have not heard of a bigger rip off than that guy offers. Chopperlump AKA Ed Dvorak Jr.

While the "Doubles and Dogs" offer to consider the non-compensated publication of your manuscript might seem an insult and rip-off to the published authors among us, it may just be someone else's idea of a way to realize a dream. Personally, I like to charge someone a lot of money when I write something, but I don't think the D@D folks would be interested in publishing one of my legal briefs either.
Giv'em a break, somebody might get to see his or her name in print for the first time. Consider the pages and pages of drivel they're gonna haf'ta wade through to come up with a 3 or 4 hundred page book anybody would buy...Geo

Thank you Geo. Newbern. Yes we will eventually be publishing this work and yes some copies will be sold - likely to family and friends of the contributing authors. Doubles and Dogs plans to underwrite considerable expense to setup and publish this book with AMATUER author contributions. The likelihood of windfall profits is slim. I for one would appreciate seeing a story written by me in a collection of similar stories - published and produced in a fine hard bound book for me for free! Not too bad of a deal.
Remember - amatuer authors guys, amatuers.

Lord Glenthorne can spin some good tales....(you might need to get your own pics to go with them).

How do you define a professional/amateur writer?
Most of my published submissions earn me a modest payment, but I do not earn my living doing it - at best it pays for my passion/hobby and recoups some of the cost of the guns I buy.
I have material that would be unlikely to fit a commercially published magazine context; I may be interested. RG

We are not distinguishing between professional/amatuer writers but as stated above - we are not paying for submissions. The main objective is to offer a keepsake collection of stories in a very well done book for the average guy. Sorry to have caused such a commotion, we just wanted to make sure that those who might be interested in this opportunity were aware of it.
