No intention to and certainly no knowledge of the design of either gun to allow me to make more than superficial comparisons. They are both doubleguns and both have rounded actions. I was thinking skin deep. I would like the deep relief leaves on the barrel balls much more than I'd appreciate the mechano-scrawl on the RBL. My experience of French guns is limited but I'm interested. Sorry Dustin.

Poastoak, beautiful Ideal. I really envy the engraving and fences! BTW have you measured the chambers?

Jack, the only similarity is in the roundness and the two barrels, the rest....

Here are pictures to clarify how the doll's head is locked:

Hope it helps.

Thank y'all, for the information, and the compliments.

The sling is present, but the metal piece that catches the sling is missing. Some uncircumcised philistine stuck a Browning pad on it. The checkering is a real nice basket weave, type. I think a good wood man could set it right.

The chambers are still 65mm. The case is worn from the outside areas of the engraved receiver, but remains in protected areas. I think it looks better without the case colors.

If I could get the wood cleaned up and fixed, and A proper pad, and sling catch on it - I would be very happy.

What would be a proper pad ? Leather covered ? Any recomendations for someone to repair the wood ?

I shot it today with som e 2.5 Polywad vintagers, and it tied every bundle.

PS - Rockdoc, I shot that COSTO a little also, it may be my Chinese Chicken shooter this season.
