George & Jules Defourny, 11 rue heri, Liege. Jules held 3 patents for shotguns. They were active from 1908-1949.

Their touch mark was G and J crowned over two cross guns.

There were several Defourny's involved in the Belgian gun trade. You can get some more info at LittleGun:

I have an old catalog for A.J. Defourny, but not G&J Defourny. But you already know that...

PeteM-

I can't access those links to littlegun.be.

Is that site down? Can anyone else get to them?

And Dennis, that's a beatiful gun. Does it have any kind of name on it anywhere?

A few years ago I saw another beautiful Belgian gun that a handful of people told me was made by a Dumoulin. The gun was made for a retailer and the retailer's name was on the bbls. There were some marks on the bbls that suggested it had come from Dumoulin, though.

OWD,

The site seems to have been down since yesterday. Some time ago, I created a local image of LittleGun ( only the Belgian section ) in case it should ever go away. Wish I had done that for a couple of other sites that have since faded away....

I am sure they will have it up soon.

OWD/Pete

I have come up with another album w/ more pics including all names and proofs. I am not much on proofs so if you see anything that's a surprise let me know. Thanks

Owd
Yes it's a very nice gun even has chopper lump BBL'S. I have a couple English Best's here and I think it's as good. IMHO

Dennis,

The gun was submitted for extra/heavy nitro proof. That is the lion/EC#3. The EC#3 designates the powder that was used.

It is missing other markings that I would have expected. There is also a makers mark that I have never seen before on the barrels.

WOW!

Nice friggin' gun. I wonder why it has Woodward-style fences and T safety? It looks like someone really liked Woodward's guns.

If it ever comes up for sale, please drop me a note.
