http://www.doublegunshop.com/dgsnos2.htmMade in 1928; probably says 'Von Lengerke & Detmold' on barrels? You are correct that it is a box lock w/ sideplates. Little to no CC, rather poorly restocked, ST, 2.5" (unless they've been extended) 12 ga, grade 25 or 30. My WAG for value is $2800. You might look @ this, too, as there are several 12s listed: http://www.gunsinternational.com/results.cfm?cid=122

Your Francotte is listed in the original VL&D sales records as a Grade 25. It was received in inventory in Febuary 1929 and sold in June of the same year. It appears as a 12 gauge gun with 26 inch bbls and ejectors. The re-stock may have been due to the fact the the Drop @ Heel was originally 3 inches. Yep, I agree on a VL&D model 25,,,,shame about the crappy wood to metal fit on the restock or refinish.....that would (or wood) take the price way down for me personally...actually it would stop me from buying it as its rather visually displeasing & I couldn't live with it.The 3 Francottes I've had all showed super fit n finish...all were model 20s...one a lovely 32" pigeon gun I bought from the late bill owleye Wise & should never have sold, even though @ 8 3/4 LB it was too much gun for me..it was in serious condition. What's the price?? cheers Franc

Bob and Franc - Thanks for the great information.
The shop is asking $3700 and it comes with what apears to be the original case.

Keep looking. For example, there are two Francotte doubles (albeit lower grades) on Steve Barnett's site for $800 and $1,300 less than your shop is asking. I bought a beautiful 30E 20ga. a few years ago for under $3K too.
I agree with "Franc Otte" and wouldn't want this one at any price, but if I had to have it (for some reason?), the price would need to be closer to $2,000. In my opinion, there are better guns and better deals to be had.

http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/conten...erarchyId=11653A 'new listing' for a grade 14 12 ga that shinbone might find of some interest. Note it's filed under 'A' for 'A. Francotte', even though every other Francotte they have listed is under 'F' for Francotte...
