I did a bunch of deals with Bill Taylor when he was at Owatonna. Good guy. Most of their stores will "deal" off the posted price of used guns, and if they sit around too long, they'll knock down the prices.
The usual comment is that they're overpriced on their used guns. I don't necessarily agree, but when an obvious "deal" does appear, I think it gets noticed pretty quickly.
They've recently started listing ALL their guns over $500, if you click on each individual library. But there are photos only of a relatively small percentage of what they have.

I've had great experiences with CABELA'S. Occasionally a great deal comes along and you have to be quick and/or lucky or you miss it.
I just bought a gun that fell into the "great deal" category. I started calling before the store opened and got through on my 59th attempt (literally). Maybe determination rather than luck was involved. The gun was obviously mis-priced, but to their credit they gave it to me at the advertised price (I would not have been surprised if they hadn't).

Interesting in that a fairly recent post indicated that Cabelas used gun prices were way too high. http://doublegunshop.com/forums/ubbthrea...5ef87c2e202a1dfI also saw something on their web site I was interested in. Called and got a very competent sales person. Decided to think on it a day and the gun was gone when I called back.

The only solution is for all of you to buy less guns. If you really need to buy a gun just get a new one.

Ok, I'll relate my experience, my first and last with Cabelas. I bought an early Fox SW in last week of March with my credit card. Gun advertised as very Very Good, and Chokes IM and M. Gun arrived and both barrels Cylinder. Also, not Very Good, but barely Good, however, condition is subjective. Sent back same day and they were very cordial over the phone. Finally checked credit card statements first week June and no credit posted. Called and then they credited my card. Never again. (Hartford store). I'm just getting old and cranky I guess, but how hard is it?

We have all had a bad experience with a business. I own a company and as they say, well s@#t happens, things go wrong and we fix them and move on. What I can say for Cabelas is that they do have a gun department at all. With all the anti-gun agenda in the country I thank them and will not pick at them. Yes they probably screw up from time to time, but it is hard to run a company of their size. I'm not giving them a free pass to underachieve, if there are problems they must address them like any other company. But one day will we be writing this thread about the good old days when Cabelas had a gun department?

Just what gun is worth 59 attempts? It was "the deal" (at least 50% of it's Blue Book value and current actual selling price). Besides that's not hard to do with a cell phone.

The trick with trading or selling a gun to Cabela's is - it has to be nice! There are other gunrooms who'll rob you more eh.

Did you ever think that they just do that so they can say, "Look at all the guns we handle. Aren't we a great store?" Then they can look good as they pat themselves on the back. Bull! Then again, maybe they are just making most of it up and don't even have the guns to begin with. They just want you to feel stupid for not acting a little faster when you couldn't have to begin with. Ignore them. They are way overpriced anyway. Good luck.
