What one should expect from this type of setting, let's say at 50 and 100 yards. What if open sights, bench rest?

All three of mine shoot better than I can with iron sights at 100yds.

Same as any other good rifle. May need a cooling pause after a few shots in order to avoid stringing. For the first couple or three shots my Zeiss-scoped Sauer 3000 drilling is my "old reliable" as far as occuracy is concerned.

My experience with one in Africa was much better than I anticipated. sighting it at 60 yards it hit my three inch square regularly, once adjusted after teh flight and then in the field it shot straight and flat out to 170 yards. I killed a red lechwe at that range with it an shot tow impala at 60 and 80 yards respectively.

I was always sceptical until I tried on but was left very impressed.

They are neither fish nor fowl, when you need a rifle, use a rifle. When shooting birds, use a gamegun. Why mix the two?

Drillings are for the stewpot!

The combination of the two shotgun barrels and the rifle barrel make for a very stiff structure. The rifle barrel is far less subject ot firing vibration than its size would indicate. Therefore, the rifles barrels tend to be more accurate than one might suppose; very good hunting rifle accuracy.

Drillings have their place here in New England where the cover is often quite thick as they are often short barreled and fairly light and fast handling. You can also have near instant selection of shot, buckshot, slug, or rifle.

In Africa, when bird shooting, having a rifle round at the ready gives a bit more comfort to your prowl through the jesse. a few Brenneke slugs in your pocket help as well. The rifle, depending on caliber, can be used for anything up to the big ones.

One is usualy limited to two rifles when traveling so My African battery is my heavy [500/450 nitro] double, and a scoped drilling. The rifle barrel is capable of 1 1/2 inch groups at 100 yards.

Lowell I bought a drilling to carry while quail hunting. I am going to use the rifle for often seen feral hogs. I had a boar chase my best dog over a hill last season. Dog came back fine but I sure was wishing for a rifle as I watched them go over the top.
