what frame size is the 16ga based on; 12ga, 20ga, or maybe sized at true 16ga?

I have seen a handful of lighter weight (6 3/4 pound) 12-gauge Remingtons, but most are pretty hefty. I have two 28-inch barrel 16-gauges, a KE- and a DEO-Grades and they both weigh within a fraction of an ounce of seven pounds. Certainly not the delightful light weight bird guns that Ansley Fox produced which could be over a pound lighter.

I'm in Alaska right now and can't measure them, but I think the frames are the same size, just slightly different in the height and width of the standing breech.

thanks for that. i've got a 12ga 1900 that i can compare the 16ga to. i'd be pleased if the 16ga weighed in at less than 7lbs.

just in ae 16ga. weighed it 6.5lbs. nice. 28inch bbls. i think its my new favourite. those remingtons compare quite favourably to foxes, parkers, and the rest.
