Rabbit,
Well, if'n the seas are going to rise, they would have to take the great lakes with 'em, no? I mean since they are all connected via the St. Lawrence seaway and all.
Lake Surerior is down about three feet, not a small amount of water.
Where is it all?
My theory, is, that over the long haul, we can demonstrate that temps globally have ping ponged up and down, sometimes, for tens of thousands of years at a crack, and sometimes at the expense of whole ecosystems. Man, a relative newcomer on the scene, had nothing to do with said temperature fluctuations. The difference now is there are misguided souls who will advance the theory that it is mankinds doing, and twist the argument to suit their political whims of the moment. They are under the assumption that mankind can change what will (eventually) prove to be normal cycles of climatic change (we can't, and won't change them) and will destroy whole economic, and political ecosystems that they feel don't mesh with their said political fancys of the moment.
Got that?
Best,
Ted

Yes, Ted. I have no problem with geological time or with very time-consuming cycles of which a human lifespan is not the measure and I hope they have no problem with me! Now about the lakes; maybe Niagara is sinking. Anybody have records of the speed of the river. Yeh, I know, only for the last eighty years.

I'm sure both of you know a lot more about it than the worlds best climatologists. Yes sir.

Only the liberal climatologists are wringing their hands. The rest of 'em realize that there is only 150 years or so of recorded data to study, which demonstrates little, or nothing. The Cretaceous period was the most recent period of the Mesozoic era, and lasted millions of years longer than the period we are in today. And, it was a bit warmer then. With no human activity, and none of your hot air, either.

Back to French guns . . . if gun buyers were to read most contemporary gun writers, especially those with a fair amount of experience with doubles, they'd receive advice that small bores go better with longer barrels, not shorter ones. I've read that from Mr. McIntosh, and the late Mr. Hill as well I believe. Once wrote a piece myself, called "The Speed of Light", in which I pointed out that there undoubtedly are some people who can shoot light, short-barreled guns pretty well--but I'm not one of them.

I think some people are skeptical because not so long ago, the world's best climatologists were telling us that we were entering the next ice age. The problem with the "best science" is that it only remains the best until something better comes along.

There are millions of years of recorded data to study, Ted.....it's recorded in the ice at out north and south poles....and there is no more disagreement among scientists about global warming that there is disagreement among scientists about the dangers of smoking....those who look hard enough or pay enough can get a scientist to declare the health benefits of tobacco....keep in mind also that there is a major difference between ice already in the oceans and ice on land. Ice in the oceans can melt without changing the volume of the ocean; ice on land is the threat.

Like I said, Mike, these things happen. They have happened before there was human activity, they will happen after there is no human activity. And, humans will not affect it either way.
Best,
Ted
