You might have to revisit that. A quick check of Roy's Auction report for 2007 shows W&S M700, 12ga's, listed as Ex Cond. selling for $3600-$4800. Just in March a composed pair went for $8913.

Woodcock Hill has a 26" version listed for $5250, and I have seen two 28" here in NY in the last 6 months listed at $3950 & $4100.

Granted you can find one in lesser condition for less money but in VG to EX they're up there.

Rob, check the Cabela's website. (And remember that Cabela's frequently takes flak on this BB for their high prices.) There are two 700 12's listed at $3300 (with a ST) and $3100. I've seen the latter gun, which the Rogers MN store has had for some time now, and it's at least VG. Given that I've always found Cabela's open to reasonable offers, that one for sure would go home for under $3,000. Were I looking for a 700, I'd give that one very serious consideration. (I intentionally ignored the gun listed at $2700 because the description mentions a slight crack.)

I see your point but note the $3300 looks to have had the chokes opened to .003 &.010, not necessarily a bad thing on a 26" gun, but the LOP is only 14" with a large pad.

The $3100 also has a nicely installed leather pad, more choke to play around with.

The only Cabela's I asked, Hartford, CT. said all gun prices were firm, no bargaining. I guess it varies from store to store. They wouldn't taker an offer.

My problem lies in reconciling my gross habits with my net income.

I've dealt with the Rogers store (and several others). Hartford is the first I've heard of with the "firm price" policy.

The idea that the guns are not real W&S UK guns kinda changes things for me. It'll take me some time to get used to that idea.

Hi Folks,
Brand new to this site but am reading with interest. I have just bought a Bass Pro Webley & Scott 712 and spoken extensively with Bass Pro buyer of these guns. It seems Webely & Scott contracted with Fausti to make the guns and some time into the production contract decide to cancel and go with a Turkish outfit.

Here's what I've found out:

Fausti guns:
Importer - Sporting Products LLC of Palm Beach, FL
30" Barrels
Fixed Chokes
MSRP $2499.88

Turkish guns:
Importer - Legacy Sports
28" Barrels
Interchangeable Chokes
MSRP:
12 Ga $3477
20 Ga $3477
28 Ga $3644

I bought the 712 (12 Ga) and have found it to be really nice. Fires well and patterns good. Has a lifetime warranty! One of the reasons I was in contact with Bass Pro's buyer is there was no warranty card. Apparently because of the way W&S handled the change of manufactures there is some question about implementing the warranty. Bass Pro is working out the details.

I'm not that experienced or any kind'a expert, but it is a nice gun. Good metal to wood fitting, very nice wood on the stock, nice engraving (laser I believe) and mounts well. I handle 4 different guns and they all mounted the same.

Just my opinion, but I'm please with the gun.

Thanks Blackwatch!! Welcome to the forum, you'll find it a great place to discuss doubles. Great folks with lots of great input and lotsgreat knowledge here!

Anyway, thanks for the info. I have heard that the guns were made in Italy, then I heard Turkey, so......I think you may have cleared up a bunch of questions. Thanks!

Again, welcome!!

All the best!!
