I looked at a gun with this marking. It was a 20 gauge over I'm not sure the caliber but the owner had about 120 loaded shells just for the gun. He said he had someone made a mold and then made the shells. It also had Nimrod Gewehr Fabiik(not sure if that was ri orir or something like that)and nitro proof. It also had a Hensoldi Wetzer dura something(the mount was in the way) and 1765 on the scope. It had a kind of vine engraving (full coverage deep relief) and the butt plate was a kind of basketweave design. A beautiful gun. I have been saving to buy a drilling. I bought The Drilling by Norbert Klups.
My question is this. The gun did not open in the standard way but had a lever that pulled to the left which made the metal on the forearm extend and then when pulling back a little further the barrels swung down. On page 43 the opener is illistrated but it sounds like this type of opener was specific to Teschner & Collath. Also on page 207, the metal on that forend looks like the one on this gun.The owner never had it apart and didn't remember how so I couldn't get any proof marks or year of manufacture. If this gun is deemed in good condition after being inspected by a professional. Can you shoot say trap or sporting clays with it without damaging it or are these more of a stickly hunting gun. I don't mean on a regular basis but maybe 2 or 3 times a year. The seller is asking $5000. I think that is high but it is a 20 gauge(we put in snap caps) and the condition is really nice. He had 4 drillings and accually these were the first drillings that I have ever handled so I really am in the dark on this one and a 5G mistake would not be good.
Thanks for any help
Tom
