Headed out one last time this year. My buddy is needing some back-up on his elk hunt (he needs a sherpa). Real-winter seems to have arrived here as well so I'm dressed for it all today. Hope my old truck has another adventure in it.

Also, taking an m12 in 16 in case I run across the now-dusky grouse that I know to inhabit this place where he has tags.

Headed home.

Very cold every day (from 8 to 15 below zero every morning). My replacement sherpa arrived and I got to depart. My buddy's had two chances so far so...I did my job. Hope he finally succeeds.

Foxy: I started-out on elk shooting a lefty Remington 700BDL in .30-06 w/180 grain Sierra Gamekings. Every year (between work and other hunters) the opportunities to hunt quality places got fewer and... the shots got longer. Eventually, I ran across a lefty Weatherby Mark 5 .300 and upped the flatness of my trajectory. Presently shooting 180 grain Nosler AccuBonds. On this trip I had no rifle but my buddy was/is shooting a .338 Custom Mauser with 200 grain AccuBonds.
