Bobby, I know the gun from long ago and it was okay by my standards. Tops for me would be $700-800 considering what's available now made in the old USA.
Are you sure it's a Silverhawk? Some other Berettas had a silver hawk on the top lever. I bought a 20ga 426E (with a silver bird on the lever that is probably a hawk) last year for $1200, in 98%+ condition. PG/BT/SST, ejectors, 28", M&F. Uncut, original. Not a sweetheart deal, bought it over the counter in a retail gun shop.

Do you have pics?

Thanks for replies.he says it is silverhawk and is asking $1500.I thought price was high. Bobby
That is high for a 26" gun, unless there is something special about it.

The Silverhawk was a 409 made for the American market. Someone might ask $1500 for one in 20ga. If it's pristine, the right buyer might pay close to that for it.

I have a '57 version of the gun that has been in the family for about 45 years. It's a great, carry-all-day bird gun (5.75#). Aside from a somewhat cheesy forearm latch, the build quality is excellent and it is stocked in what I would term select or maybe even A-grade French. It won't wear out. If you can find one in high condition for under $1200, snatch it. Even at $1500, you have to ask yourself what better is out there for that price.

PS - I checked a contemprary source ('61) and it showed a single-trigger model, but none with ejectors.

I have a 409 Silvehawk in 16 Ga., non-selective single trigger. It is a nice handling, very well made old gun.

The early Silver Hawk or Mdl. 409 were built to shoot. (IMHO) I have 3 diferent mdls. and can say with confidence they are worth the money. The asking price for a nice condition 20ga. is between $1200 and $1800 depending on mdl. and which auction or shop has it. Right now a 626E is on GunsInternational for $1200 and at GunBroker there are a couple from $1675 to $1800. Those at $1200 will sell and the rest will be around a while, at least this is my experience in following the Beretta line of SxS shotguns.
Best,
Ron

I have observed a higher inidecent of rib problems with late 50's early 60's 409s, than I would expect from a Beretta. So check for loose or poory repaired ribs closely.
