Hi lads
Hope you all had a grand Christmas, n I hope we all have a good 2012
I just wanted to post something along the lines of how we're all lucky to not be in the Silent Guns section, n how we all dearly love out hobby of shooting or collecting these masterpieces of an age passed by
Lets try to all be nice is all I mean
It was rather ugly there for a while, though better lately.
I have said a few not so nice things to RWTF & ol'Ed, & I would like to apologize for them in the spirit of a new & friendly 2012 here at this lovely place where we can come chat to people with the same interests.
I had a dumb row with Le Fusil/Dustin a while ago, but after an Email or two we got it sorted & I would say we would be friends now, if we met ...I was real happy about that, so thanks Dusty for being a gent!
I think so much of so many of you guys...lets keep it cosy this year, eh?
And thanks to Dave Weber for letting us visit
Bless the lot of ya
Franc

I'd like to be the 1st to 2nd Franc Otte's post. Life is entirely too short to be anything but kind and gentle. I believe that everyone here has something to offer: A story to tell, a bit of knowledge about a particulary obscure subject or perhaps just a compliment to share. There is enough animosity and ill will in our world today. Let this forum be an island of good will and respect. Kudos to Dave Weber for putting up with us.

Best Regards and a Happy 2012.......George
Well ok, but let's not get too sappy about it. The physical threats and so forth have to go, but a little difference of opinion is good for all; thats how we learn....Geo
Well said, George. IMO=-every Vet who posts on this here Dave Weber web-site thingy, owes you big-time for sharing the story about the twice decorated Purple Heart soldier- who tried to pawn his two medals recently at a pawn shop in Holland, MI--

As far as Franc (Frank?) Ott and his comments- No Big Deal. I get ridden hard and put up wet by the major league %$#-holes on the Professional Golfers Caddying Assn.-- but I still have my set of Haig Ultras and a 3 handicap-- I rather like reading all the negatives that get posted here (and on other sites), because it keeps me sharp and alert-too easy to get in a groove and only BS with those few that might agree with you- what's the fun in that-- and also, I buy 100% 24/7/365 the words of wisdom from Vito Andolini-- "Kepp your friends close, and your enemies even closer"!Salud!!!
looking forward to exchanging ideas and learning from the gentlemen members of this forum. happy new year to all! ed
Happy New Year to all and may this great forum get greater! Bobby

RWTF

I have a new respect for you!! smile I ditched my Ken Venturi blades years ago!!
Geo' n RWTF,Of course , nothing wrong with a bit of colourful argumentative discourse ,but not to long ago a few folks were talking about leaving due to alot of crap on here.I didn't visit much for a while myself.
I'm just hoping we can all be civil thats all,as most have been.
I meant it in a positive ,well meaning way .
But we don't need Sappy...now I will be right back with Hot Chocolate n cookies for all the gang, lol
My NY resolutions never seem to last very long anyhow, you mean bunch of !#@@&%'ers you, smile haha
cheers
Franc
Group hug!
If this was Oprah Windbag I would need a Kleenex. sick
Too Kool, Chuck H!
sorry up-chuck, forget it then, i was just having a rare spiritual moment.
But I'm going to try to be nice anyhow
As my mother said = if you can't say something nice, don't say anything. Thanks Franc - Happy New Year to all. Paul
The catch is the word "all" in getting along. There's no unanimity---being all of one mind, agreeing in opinion--- in anything. One size does not fit all. Never has.

Dave asked simply for us to keep it clean. We get off the rails when we express ourselves in the language of the coarse and uneducated by being rude.

We share an interest and opinions in doubles, the shooting sports and all the arcane knowledge and experience that goes with it.

There is no excuse for being rude, regardless of social or professional status. I'm a member of other sites with wide ranges of opinion where it doesn't happen.

I have no formal education. I learned early from my parents how to say my piece without fear or favour, nor let anyone crap on my head, with a civil tongue
+1, Chuck.

But, a bit more seriously, people can disagree without being disagreeable. I look at this site as both an advanced course in shotguns and a place where people with a shared interest can meet and learn from each other. If a few sparks fly from time to time, that happens and can be addressed in a mature fashion. Many of the most instructive classes I've ever attended were the most contentious, in large part because the contention required a close examination of the subject matter.

That, and there's so much good gun porn here, it can be hard to look away.
We can all get along as soon as you all admit that Ithaca built the best shotgun.
Thank You,

See, that was easy.

Have a nice day!!
Get along? With all the PIAs here? Give me a break....

kidding...kidding....hahaha (whoops, that probably pissed someone off. I'll probably get PMd about it).

Happy holidays to everyone. Have a great New Year.

OWD

BTW: I kind of like sour and surly. It takes a thicker skin, but we're all big boys here. Regard for feelings, while important, can get in the way of the truth.
Damn straight- I wouldn't give a Big Rat's #$@ for a thin-skinned guy without strong opinions--
Yup- I got a nice 1912 Flues 20 last April- and now am buying a Flues grade 1 12 ejector gun-- waaay more afordable in today's market than some of the other "Marquis names" seem to be!!
RWTF, I like using the NID, but in the looks department the higher grade Flues are just plain frickin beautiful.

Hope you enjoy them!!!

Fox I think you're needed in the salvage section...
Happy New Year all.

Especially jOe.

It's finally occurred to me that you are a genius ahead of your time.

Shoot 'em all, gents...
See, we're all getting along so well and all you guys had to do over all these many years was admit that Ithaca built the absolute best shotguns in the world!!

Wasn't that easy!!! whistle
I am hopeful that we will all be singing in the same choir in 2012. Keep in mind that we are in a very real war to maintain the Constitutional right we have to keep and bear arms. Without this right it would be very difficult to indulge ourselves in this hobby we all love.
IMO: 2012 will be a pivotal year in deciding whether our children and grandchildren are able to maintain this right.
I just got back from Christmas with the grandchildren and I would like to wish everyone a belated Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year!

In thinking of the current administration and the anti-gun sentiment being foisted on our representatives and us I am reminded of what that Great American and my personal hero had to say, first about the Vietnamese and later about our Congress, "When You Have Them By The Balls, Their Hearts and Minds Will Follow" John Wayne GOD BLESS THE NRA!
George- of all the Gents on this website- you are "Numbah 1" but I hate to tell you- the great Duke Wayne may have said this, but it was USMC lad Chucky Colson, an adviser to "Tricky Dick" Nixon- the C-In-C that kept our troops out of both Laos and Cambodia, and who most likely thought that the "Iron Triangle" was a chastity belt from Victoria's Secret--

Chuckie-Boy even had that great motto framed and hung on his office wall in DC-- After the Fit hit the Shan with Watergate, and Chucky went off to a Federal Country Club "rest Home' to work on his backswing, he later found Jesus apparently, and repented of his former "Ball squeezing wicked ways- yeah, right!! He just tutored Uber *&^% Hillary Clinton in them, which was a walk in the park, as Draft-Dodger Billy Clinton didn't have any to speak of!!

Anyway, Happy 2012 down in the great Palmetto State-- you have the time frame right- our "Mission" according to Willie Westmoreland and others was to "Win the hearts and minds of the Vietnamese and do what the French had tried to do there unsuccessfully for 20 years, until about 1954--
Thanks Franc and a Happy and Prosperous New Year to You & Yours.

RWTF: I'll bet Chuck watched a lot of John Wayne movies. It just sounds like something "The Duke" would come up with, perhaps in "Sands of Iwo Jima" (My all time favorite)

Best Regards For an GREAT New Year!......George
John Wayne was entertaining. I enjoyed how he performed as other people. I don't know how he got a reputation for tough guy. He put his career before his country during the war.

Hey jOe, did you have to go back 3-1/2 years to find a compliment? grin
I think jOe's saying goodbye again...Geo
