I know this is a question for the Parker forum, but I though I should give it a try here before I sign up for an account there.

I require a pretty long LOP. What is the longest factory stock length that a Parker VH grade might have?

Anything longer than 14-1/4 is going to be scarce if not rare.

What LOP are you aiming for?

Best,

Mike

Parker's standard LOP unless otherwise ordered by the customer was 14 to 14-1/4".

If you are looking for longer, that can be easily done with a pad. The CSMC 1" silvers style pad is great because it is flexible and easily conforms to a curved butt like a Parker would have. And for models with the spurred buttplate, a spurt can even be added to the pad to perfectly fit the butt with no modification at all to the wood.

If you want shorter, than... You would have to look for one.

I thought CSMC also had the Silvers-type pad in 1-1/2".

Thanks guys, I actually need around 15.75" LOP. I knew I wasnt going to find that but I figured if Parker made a 14 3/4 stock that I would be able to get there with the silvers pad. I may look into restocking as I currently have a VH that doesnt fit well.. does anyone know what the ballpark cost of restocking is?

Done right, @ $2000. There are guns with long stocks out there, you just have to look. Paying to join the Parker Collectors Association is a great investment. You gain access to the members only section of their forums. There is a great buy/sell forum, and you can also post a Want to Buy classified where people who own heaps of Parkers will see the ad. You can get a 1-1/2" Silvers pad from CMSC to fit over a 14-1/4" stock. B. Dudley is a gunsmith who can help you with that.

Depending upon your esthetic criteria, another alternative is to use a black plastic spacer between the stock and recoil pad. They are avaialable in 1/2" and 1" widths.

I have a very long LOP on a 2 trigger gun- 16". Adding length will most likely give you too much DAH and almost always is unattractive. Restocking will cost a minimum of $2k and can be much more. Another option is a buttstock transplant. I had one done to an Ithaca Flues and it is superb. Can be done for $500 and up depending on wood quality. Keith Kearcher did mine.

Jeff
