Building a gun from scratch. This is the first time I have had a commission to build a new gun totally from scratch, no spark eroded or CNC parts, all hand filed from forgings, best chopper lump barrels, wood, which I think suits the gun.

Next will be engraving, which will be modified Holland 'Royal' acanthus scroll type with extensions onto rib and breech end of barrels.

I thought members might like to see progress.

Lovely wood, very well figured, but not over the top, as so many high end guns seem to be these days.

Wonderful metal work, as well, I did not realize that those forgings were still available...

So this one will be engraved with your name on the rib?

No, this is a commission for someone who want his own name on the gun, which he has every right to do.
Really impressive. I didn't know anyone could still do this sort of work.
Very nice! Will the pin holes in the lockplates be drilled before engraving?
The lock already has pins, they are just not drilled right through the plate 'pin less' should really be called 'hidden pins'.
All hand filed from forgings ? Not even a Bridgeport ?
I have some photos of the forgings somewhere....
The progress looks superb!
