Having a hard time connecting with my Purdey 12b, just can't seem to hit with it. I was thinking of mounting one of these:

I saw this sight on "Flyway Highway".

Do you think I'll have to drill and tap the top rib?

I would first try a hose clamp be fore I went to the expense to drill and tap the rib:

Yep, hose clamp would do it. You may stipple the barrels so the clamp won't slide around.

I know a guy in Greenville ,MS who would do it in a heart beat.

Give the gun as is to Josephine for a belated 21st birthday present and your problems are solved. laugh

You must be joking, right Greg??? Gun likely does not fit you. Can you have stock bent so it fits?
Posted By: RCC Re: Sight For My Purdey - 09/24/14 01:10 PM
Check the gun fit. I doubt that the barrels of a Purdey were not properly regulated. If they are replacement barrels or sleeved barrels, I would check that too.

I can't believe that you would put such an ugly contraption on a SxS. And when did you start looking at the barrels rather than the bird, that you think a "sight" is an Upland tool?

I will be coming west on the super slab the 17th. I should be passing through your neck of the woods around noon. Would you like to meet up for lunch?

Might just need to port the barrels. Muzzle lift might be the problem. Make sure you drill the holes back far enough so you can upgrade to screwing chokes later. I think putting a adjustable comb on the butt stock might be getting ahead of your self at this time. Morgan adjustable pads also help sometimes but I miss the fine looks of a white line recoil pad. And a wood butt stock with no pad just looks unfinished to my fine eye. wink

No need to port. Just get extended, ported choke tubes! You should first just duct tape the Eotech on. Then if you like it you can solder it in place. Oh, and where are the pictures?
Regards,
Jeff
P.S. You guys know he's kidding, right?

IF you are not joking, NO, a friend of mine has one on his Pump and it is awful and near impossible to hit anything moving.

A K-1 Weaver steel tube scope would be more fitting with the
production era of the Purdy and it can be mounted lower to the
bore of the Purday making it better for your bird sniping.

Rave on dude, hunting must be slowing down up there to allow
you to investigate the finer items of gunsmanship.

Bill
I would use duck tape . I would never drill ....

Forget about the contraption the boys from Flyway Highway recommend. Forget the hose clamp. Forget the drilling and tapping. Forget the duct tape. Forget all the voodoo. You need something that's scientifically designed, proven and guaranteed---you need a DukHit! I never leave home without my DukHit! Shown here is the single barrel version, also available for SxS and O&U. Only $19.95! Get yours now!

Now guys, come on, you should know me by now...just a little fun.

Got the seed planted in my head by my son when we were watching "Flyway Highway". They pimp Eotech the whole show, and Will said, how would that look on your Purdey?

Sorry if my joke got a bit out of hand, but some of the "ideas" were great!

Have a good one!

What!!! Drill and tap, what about duct tape??? Its made in camo colors to so you can take it duck hunting!!! Or just clap it on there with a heavy duty 'c' clamp, that should hold.
