Being a member for 2-3 years, 2 items still baffle me. What does NID refer to? And I would appreciate a better understanding of the stars. They seem to come and go like gypsies in the night!

I think it means New Ithaca Design, my memory is short, and I think members calibrate what they think of your messages by assigning stars or taking them away but I don't know how they take them away. From discussion earlier I understand stars disappear like driven smoke.
1. "New Ithaca Double", a model from that firm. The most modern and strongest, according to most.
2. A rating system. Any user may vote any other user 1-5 stars. I'll not debate the usefullness or wisdom of this feature of the software, I just don't care.
NID = New Ithaca Double. Stars? We don't need no stinking stars!
You start out with five stars, and if your a bad boy, you'll end-up with zip!
...and your only one away!
I asked Dave up front to demote me to two stars. Or, at least correct the oversight of giving me five.
He obliged me. You get what you play for.
Best,
Ted

Thanks for the NID explanation. As you guys have no doubt surmised, I neither got/kept many stars in school or the work force. As far as the service, I had a luckey star that brought me home alive! Let's prayer our troups all have their lucky stars. Amen

Don't worry, Mike, your mother never leaves you.
