Back in the 1960s Ithaca Gun Co. did a tabulation of the NIDs. It showed a total of twenty-two No. 7E NIDs. They broke out the smallbores and the Magnum-Framed guns, showing two .410-bores, two 28-gauges, two Magnum-Twelves and one Magnum-Ten, so that leaves fifteen to be divided up between 12-, 16- and 20-gauges.

First one I ever saw was a 20-gauge at Kerr's Sport Shop in Beverly Hills in early 1970 when I was a U.S. Navy E3. Pretty sure it is the one that showed up in Julia's Auction in 2014 --

I've seen another 20-gauge, three or four 12-gauges, and this 28-gauge that Steve Barnett had for sale a few years back --

with straight grip, vent rib, SST and beavertail.

I've never seen any tabulations for how many No. 7s were made in the Crass, Lewis, Minier and Flues Models.

Including the auction's house fee, the gun at Julias sold for $77,000!

Researcher, something tells me that your monthly pay as an E-3 meant that gun was not within your budget!

Bobski, when Steve Lamboy brought back the NID with his Ithaca Classic Doubles operation, there were some more 7E's made. Don't know how many. I've owned a couple ICD's and they're very nice guns, but mine were both 4E's.

I went back and looked at the photos I'd saved of the No. 7E from Steve Barnett that I thought was a .410-bore in my post above and one of the pictures included the tag and it is a 28-gauge. I edited my post above to reflect this. Sorry.

pics of the one that got away incoming via marks21.
They really are not elusive, you just need to have the money. I have owned 2 20-gauges (one a two barrel set) and 5 or so 12 gauges.

Bobski, I think you picture two different guns here?
Posted By: bobski Re: the elusive ithaca 7e sbs. got one? - 01/08/16 03:10 PM
yes.....one with velvet was a 28" full/full and the other is the 32" full full. i have 12 more pics of it, but it takes 15 min to download 3!

when i say elusive, i mean its rarily seen outside the glass ceiling of collectors. much like a red or blue browning double auto. and when it is, its very high and left to be sold to very discriminating buyers. it eludes common man. :>
Ithaca grade 7s were never within the reach of the "common man."

back then AND today. agree.

Is it known how many were made of the Ithaca 7E single barrel trap guns?
Thanks
Ken

The lower two pictures are 443594. I have 17 pictures of that gun in my files.

That is some beautiful wood on those guns. Not to mention the engraving. Would like to have one in my collection, but I don't think it will ever happen. Thanks for posting.
