What was the last year of production for the Forehand Arms Co., 3 pin hammerless double? I know they had the single screw/pin before the H&A takeover but when was the 3 pin design discontinued? Approx. how many 3 pin guns were mfg.?

Thanks, John
John, my files contain the earliest reference to the Forehand hammerless double in 1892. That illustration shows a single pin. I have no illustrations of a multiple pin hammerless double. Sullivan Forehand died in June of 1898, after which his company went on to Hopkins and Allen as I recall.

I'd guess your multiple pin gun is prior to 1892, as all illustrations I see after 1892 to 1898 show a single pin.

Daryl,

The gun in question is the one on GB that you gave me a heads-up on. I got it bought. It is a 3 pin frame but has Forehand Arms Co., engraved in the top lever.

Would that put production date 1890-1892?

Thanks as always,

John
John, I don't know about the 1890 date, but the 1892 date is just the earliest picture I had of a Hammerless Forehand and it was a single pin gun.
