Several years ago, I purchased this shotgun.

The maker is engraved as L.I.G. Elgoibar on the barrels. Forum and internet searching says that L.I.G. was "La Industrial Gurpuzeoan." There are guns floating around which are marked LIG Eibar, and LIG Elgoibar. The proof date is 1977.

It's a Spanish Best-type, 16 gauge, 2 3/4" chamber ejector game gun. Physically it's a triple-bite action with a concealed top bite/fastener. It has nearly 100% foliate-scroll engraving on the action and metal pieces (other than the barrels). Virtually full case color hardening, although it is starting to thin around the bottom/belly of the action from handling wear. Cocking indicators, automatic safety, bushed firing pins, and gas vents. It has a lightly carved wood buttplate caps the stock. Stocked to the fully engraved fences. The barrel rib is matted and concave. The barrels are about 27.75" long, the chokes opened by Mike Orlen to skeet and light modified.

However, one barrel no longer fires. I'm not sure if it doesn't cock, or if the hammer is broken. I have not opened it up to see, and the sideplates are not hand detachable.

Realizing that this gun has some hand work and there are likely to be very few hammers available and anything would have to be hand fitted, I'm sure the price can get up there pretty quick. But, it's a great handling shotgun. Should have bought an AYA I guess . . .

Neither of my local gunsmiths want to take it in; one focuses mostly on competition O/Us and the other has a large backlog of work. Since I'm going to have to ship it, I'm prepared to ship it anywhere in the U.S.

If you are in TX I would use Philip Crenwelge, 210-313-5988. He is the best metal man I have seen in over 50 years of looking.

Probably a broken firing pin. Does it have disk set pins?

Yes.
Call Cole Haugh, 812 654-3209. Go-To guy for old Spanish doubles.
Second for Cole. Very competent and reasonably priced repairs.

The best way to get him is on his cell. (513) 518-6722
Thanks I will give him a call. It is the right barrel. The gun cocks and when you pull the trigger it clicks (like a normal dry fire). But no firing pin comes forward out of the breech face.
The LIG shotgun is
La Industrial Guipuzcoana, made in Elgoibar.
