Do Flues Model Ithacas have anything like a spring to retract the firing pins ? They seem to stick out at times and make opening hard.

There are not return springs on the Flues FP's that I have disassembled. You might try some solvent to soften old grease. The FP retaining screws may be over-tightened not allowing free movement. Or the cocking hook in barrel lug may be timed late and not retracting the hammers soon enough.

Paul, check your PM's.

The same problem arose on my 20ga Flues, it was the cocking hook that needed replacement. Apparently not an uncommon occurrence...

Yep.
Probably bent, too.
People go after the wrong end of the dog all too often on Flues model Ithaca's.

Or the pin could have lost its hardness and is starting to distort itself and stick in the hole. I have had good luck in fixing sticking floating pins by just replacing them.

Hi Paul,

I have two and they can be a real pita. My 12ga continues to bend cocking hooks. My 16ga drags firing pins but the cocking hook is straight.
