Pauly's invention was essential in bringing about every single thing this whole website is dedicated to. Feel free to check out this article I wrote about it and ask any questions!

Blog Post about the The First Cartridge; A History of Jean Samuel Pauly

Thanks. Wonderful research!
Thanks, great article. Much appreciated.
What a wonderful article. Don't miss it, highlighted above. The Pauly guns were of quite high quality and could come with a plain finish or highly adorned.

Fascinating, Aaron. Thank you for sharing it.

Regards, Tim
wow...in the beginning, there was pauly...
Another thought, the Pauly actually had internal strikers, a design not used much until many decades later.
Great post. Thanks to Aaron and Daryl for the great pictures. What an interesting designed gun.

Yeah. Another interesting thing that I didn’t really realize until researching this topic a little more is just how ahead of its time this really was. This was really going up against flintlock guns not percussion guns. It was only four years prior when Forsyth invented his popular percussion powder and the concept of percussion caps begin to come around. Percussion weapons weren’t really even a thing until after Pauly’s invention here.
