I am going to be liquidating some of my SxS shotguns. Having no idea what they are worth, I am wondering if I can get some opinions here.

FYI, the include: Army/Navy .410 with hammers, ca 1910. SxS 12 bore by Wm Lee, engraved side locks with beautiful wood. Baker 16 bore with nice case hardening color. Weatherby Athena III, 28 bore. Ithaca Knickerbocker ca 1926 refurbished by Gunter Pfrommer. I may also consider selling my Kemen KM4, but not sure on this one.

Thank you all in advance.

Steve.

Photos and specs would be important for assessing value.

Steve, please don't take this the wrong way, but why do you not have any idea what any of your guns are worth? I've never owned a single gun that I did not have a pretty good idea of its approximate value. Not judging, just asking.

John,

That is a fair question. I have owned the guns listed for years. I know what I paid for then, but this was in the neighborhood of 20+ years ago, some closer to 30. During this time, I know that the value of everything has fluctuated. I will assume that this applies to guns aw well, they are either worth more or less than I paid, I don't want to offer them for sale too high, as no one would be interested and like everyone I know, I want to get the most possible, based on their true value.

I will get that information out as soon as possible. Should I put them on the board in one post or separate posts for each one?

Thanks.

4 out of 6 you could get a value from closed auctions
The .410 and the Lee would be relative to similar auctioned items.

I'd hazard around 3k for the Army Navy .410 unless brutalized 2500BPS recently for similar in UK shop nicely refreshed

I'll be happy to opine on the UK guns when specs and photos are available.

I will be getting some photos and more detailed info early this coming week.

Thanks. I have checked Gunbroker and did not find any information on the Weatherby, Kemen and the Baker.

Would appreciate it of you could give me a few other sites that I can try,

https://www.gunbroker.com/item/793526036 here is one that sold, not sure on the grade

www.gunsinternational.com. Mostly dealers listing there, so as a private seller you'd need to discount the prices maybe 20% or so.

Thank you for that. Mine is an o/u, 28 gauge with engraves and gold inlayed side plates, Prince of Wales style stock.

I may sound like an idiot here, but how can I post photos?
Posted By: Argo44 Re: Opinion of Value - 12/18/18 01:17 AM
I use JPGBOX.com - it's free.

1) move your photo to your desktop and title it.
2) sign into JPGBOX.com. http://jpgbox.com. You can open an account for free or just use it as is.
3) You'll see this screen:

4). Hit "Choose file"; Then choose your titled photo from the dropdown desktop list and hit "choose"
5) Hit Upload image.
6) You'll see this screen.

6) pick the size you want in (I usually go with the last one on the right - original size)
7_ copy the text "for forums" and past it in your post.

Anyone?
Posted By: HomelessjOe Re: Opinion of Value - 12/23/18 03:24 PM
Steve those mini pictures don't show much...truth is they suck...I'd get a different picture host like Imgur and get an account on my cell phone.

Takes me 2 seconds to go get a picture off my Imgur account.

I take the photos with my cell phone then log into Imgur on my phone...then select the camera link bottom of the screen click it...at that point you can take a new picture and upload it then and there or go into the pictures within your phone and select one.

When it all starts I select "private"....after the up load is complete I go to my desktop and log into my Imgur account...

Then select my photos/images...select the photo you want and the image links will come up on the side of the selected photo look for the "message board link" for that photo...hit "copy" and then paste it here.

If you're not sure what to ask for the guns list them in the sale section and "take offers"...if an offer suits you sell it send Dave 10 bucks.

I'll offer some opinions on the A&N .410. First, .410's do have a higher value than their 12 bore counterparts. Yours is a very entry level gun with some major stock issues with the forend and around the locks. And unfortunately the Army and Navy brand doesn't add any value. A comparable grade American double like Crescent Arms seem to fetch in the $400 area. Being an English made gun, its quality is likely to be better, so I'd estimate $400-$700 depending on the stock issues, from what I can see in the pics.
Posted By: claycrusher1900 Re: Opinion of Value - 12/23/18 05:32 PM
It looks like there is a decent crack starting behind each lock- is that correct? That would certainly greatly diminish the value as a shooter
Posted By: claycrusher1900 Re: Opinion of Value - 12/24/18 05:56 PM
I would estimate the 12 bore sidelock at 1000-1500. Sorry for the broad ranges, one would need a number of additional pictures to narrow it down. The brand again doesn't help any, and lower grade sidelocks don't seem to be going for much right now.

If you are wanting to sell them, I would suggest posting them on Gunbroker where people can bid on them. Start them on the low end, and perhaps on a 10 day auction. That's a good way to sell them for about what the market is at. Or you could put them up for a fixed amount for a month before going to auction- but if the figure is lower than what the market is, you might not get as much. I would also suggest a dozen or more pictures per gun, including the proof Mark's on the barrel flats and action water table. Hope this helps!

Thanks, very helpful information. Do you know anything re: Knickerbocker, Weatherby and Baker? Anything you can provide will be helpful
Posted By: HomelessjOe Re: Opinion of Value - 12/29/18 12:43 PM
The Knickerboocker is a really nice looking gun....best I could see in the tiny witt'e bitt'e teen'e ween'e picture.

There's a NIB Athena III 28 ga on GunsAmerica right now for $2500. Not many out there that I could find, but that's a starting point
