What can you tell me about this firm, I’ve checked out IGC, but was hoping someone had some more info!
Thanks!

They were principally known as a Fishing Tackle dealer. I have a two-piece 7' Brook Rod of their make.

Some pretty nice guns sold by them were made by Bentley and Playfair.

I've also seen at least one Webley & Scott--believe it was a Model 700--apparently made for and sold by them.

Braddell was in the gun business for some time. I have a 12-bore pinfire by Joseph Braddell & Son, s/n 2500, with bar locks. The address on the rib is 17 Castle Place, Belfast. It is a fine quality gun, and there’s nothing on the gun that suggests it was made for them and not by them (though of course anything is possible). I would guess it was made around 1865, from its various features.

You'd likely be in trouble with the majority of your potential customers in Belfast if your shotgun had IRA proofmarks. Belfast being in Northern Ireland, not the Republic of Ireland.

so no crossed sticks of dynamite over a pint of Guinness proofs?

Steve, don't upset the IRA as they are kicking off again under the name of the New IRA. You might find yourself on their target list. It doesn't take much! Lagopus…..

steve white,
Do you think it is appropriate to joke about a proscribed terrorist organisation? Regardless, the Guinness Brewery founder was a Protestant loyalist , and I am sure he would turn in his grave at the thought of supporting murderers.
