looks close but maybe not same one.

Note barrel cutout, thumb lever checkering etc...

Just did a bit more research.

The Sectional View I showed in the above post from a 1901 Remington Arms Co. catalog was used from the October 1894 Remington Arms Co. catalog which introduced the Remington Hammerless Double through their second 1902 catalog. This is the Sectional View shown in the 1903-04, 1904-05 and 1905-06 Remington Arms Co. catalogs --



There is no Sectional View shown in either of the 1906 Remington Arms Co. catalogs or their 1907 catalog. In the 1908, 1908-09 and 1909 Remington Arms Co. catalogs the sectional view shows the new style action with the separate firing pins and the repositioned sear pin.

Would that drawing have been made from an actual gun?

Interesting. The gun for sale doesn't seem to exactly match either illustration , so maybe there were three or more cutaways.

Hey, very kool post - thanks. I once had a 1889 Remington twist barrel hammergun with a hole in the side of the left barrel, kinda, sorta like that one. Mine had a shell sticking half out of it. You couldn't close the barrels on mine. 94grs of PB, fourth shot in a skeet round.

94 grains of PB will get'um every time. Lucky it made it past the 1st shot. Must have thought it loaded the same as Black or Bulk Smokeless. Even with those that would be near a 3½ dram load, a pretty stiff one for skeet.

The cut away must have been for sales purposes, maybe traveling with the damascus samples noted in Semmers book?

I've seen far more Ansley H. Fox cut-aways over the years than all of our other double gun manufacturers combined. This is the first Remington Hammerless Double cut-away I've seen. I've never seen a Fox or a Remington try-gun though.

Yes, thought it was Pyrodex. Told a friend " God, are these kicking awful hard. " The light should have gone on, but no, big dummy has to keep shooting. I've learned to remove any BP [ or it's sub ] from the press so there's no more misunderstandings of what's in the bottle.

One of the young guys who just joined the club bought a near new 1889 Remington for $450. He brings it out to show me knowing I am a Remington fan. Man, is it a nice gun. Just like the cut away - someone else sees the good deals. Why do I see a black X in a box in Reseachers' first two post ?

I posted this same topic on the Remington Society forum and the Remington section in the shotgunworld.com forums and have gotten 35 and 42 looks, but 0 responses.

I'm surprised that many looks at the Remington Society. That place is a snooze fest. But.....when someone does post, it's usually pretty good info. It's just that it's usually from you or Paul! Haha!
