Honestly, I don’t know how you can live there, but, this seems like a good start:

Good luck.

Some have described Gruesome Newsom as an empty suit. Unfortunately, when he is wearing a suit, the suit is just a sack of crap.

It will never happen. Pelosi is Newson’s Aunt. Too much liberal political power in all areas of government. The examples of the madness would fill a book. The exodus of sane (conservative) people from the state is real. Two more years of work and I’m out.

I grew up in a much different California, it wasn’t always like this.

From news reports it seems you can't walk the streets of SF or LA because of the homeless camps.

These people should be rounded up and put on poor farms like in years gone by. Teach them the virtues of productive work. Get them off the dole. What's wrong with our country?

While CA, because of its size and national importance, might seem to be "the problem"...the reality is it's that mindset that's the problem. CA is just the penultimate example of what happens when it can run essentially unchecked.

But the same people who have done this to CA are in NY, MA, CT, NJ, IL, etc. And in great strength in urban pockets of othwrwise sane states...Madison, WI, Minneapolis, MN, Austin, TX, Boulder, CO...

And it's difficult to know how to show them their ideas don't work. Because they won't acknowledge where it is failing. They can't. To do so would invalidate lifetimes of belief.

So...5 decades into literally UNCHALLENGED Democrat control of Chicago, Detroit, Baltimore, D.C. etc...the "problems" which ail them are still the fault of a boogie man they drove off 5 decades ago.

Here is the brutal truth:

Inequality: The two primary drivers of inequality in America have been (1) the Federal Reserve, unleashed post-Bretton Woods in pumping false prosperity by way of debt serfdom, and (2) globalization, which perverts and abets capitalism by off-shoring labor in favor of fatter profit margins for the benefit of the elites in charge, and similarly invested. There is NOTHING but upside for them in globalism, because in the coastal urban centers where they live (primarily), the underclass largely exists in the service sector, feeding further downstream in the same eco-system. It's the people who farm, and build, and employ trade skills with their hands who are expendable and forgotten.

Urban hipster beta males LOVE globalism too! It brings them cheap hipster clothing and technology (iPhones, laptops), ensures a constant underclass of service sector workers to drive them around in Ubers and cook their food, clean their tiny apartments, etc.

Now add to these two PRIMARY drivers -- The Fed and Globalization -- a slew of secondary factors, and you get the soup we are currently sitting in. Including, but not limited to:

Godlessness (which fosters all manner of moral inversion, subverting "goodness" in almost every endeavor)

Victimology (Balkanizing the populace, parsing them into groups to be pitted against each other, establishing angst amongst minorites by way of shiboleths, so that they simultaneously self-suppress, while becoming a reliable source of voting power, convincing young women that men are the root of every bad thing, etc.)

There's more but I wont go on.

That is a thoughtful and excellent post, Nudge. If I differ on anything it would be that godlessness is no. 1. True Godliness is the way people are really changed for the better, and it trickles down into everything else.

Thanks for that. SRH

There is a size consideration that can't be minimized. When the voting polls close on national election night, there won't likely be any wait for returns. All of kalis fifity-five electoral college votes will be awarded to the dem by all of the 'news' networks. Without breaking a sweat, the dem will be spotted more than 20% of the minimum needed to run the entire nation.

Yes Craig, this is the Tytler Cycle.

Alexander Frasier Tytler

On democracy...

" It can only exist until the majority discovers it can vote itself largess out of the public treasury. After that, the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits with the result the democracy collapses because of the loose fiscal policy ensuing, always to be followed by a dictatorship, then a monarchy."

While we are a Representative Republic -- NOT a Democracy (hence the value of the electoral college, and 2 senators for every state) -- his conclusions about human nature were prescient, given he uttered them in the 19th century.

But imagine how nice the sunset must look over the squalor of the homeless encampment in San Francisco, posted by CptCurl.

California has been controlled by anti-gun Democrats for decades.

These are the same Democrats who repeatedly promise to tax the rich and bring the poor out of poverty... to equal the playing field.

Yet California has the highest number of homeless of all the states. California also has the highest number of Billionaires in the United States.

And the people of California will continue to follow the path outlined by Nudge. They will fall for all the empty promises from their Democrat leaders. They will believe that the sky is falling because of minute changes in climate that have occurred for as long as the earth has had an atmosphere. They will be like the battered woman who keeps going back to her abusive lover until he finally kills her.

On "climate change," I saw this this morning. Bear in mind this is NOT The Onion. It's an actual article written non-sarcastically by a "journalist."

https://www.thedailybeast.com/climate-anxiety-groups-are-the-new-self-care

We are becoming a nation of fragile, ridiculous people. "Monsters" are everywhere. Shadows are scary. People are taking "anxiety animals" around with them...so they can cope with life.

Because getting a $9 latte that's too frothy is EXACTLY like seeing your buddy's arms blown off by an IED.

What a mess we have here in Boulder, Co.

The most stable housing market in the U.S.

a highly educated and affluent population

low crime

a beautiful and very clean city

While it is far from perfect, I have seen much, much worse.

Reason being it's too cold for homeless people.
Posted By: Nudge Re: Californians-here is your chance. - 09/20/19 01:27 PM
SKB,

My comment about Boulder was along the lines of "blue islands" in red states, where people on those islands tend to vote as if the sea of red around them, and the lives and needs of the people "out there," don't exist. It wasn't to say there is necessarily something wrong with what life is like in Boulder. But that the people who live there VOTE for things which are in line with THEIR desires...not that of a rancher who lives 100 miles away.

I'm not saying red state America isn't just as self-interested in how they vote. Human nature is common to all people. But because red state America is more rural and disbursed, living in MUCH smaller voting districts, their self interest really can't touch everyone else at a state level. Blue voters DO affect everyone else, because they live in highly populated districts.

This same circumstance is why coastal blue state voters, and the media and corporate elite who also live there, were so aghast and surprised at Trump's election. Because from where THEY live, and inside the closed circle of thinking and lifestyles, they barely even acknowledge the existence of red state America...even as it makes up the majority of the country by way of area. Voter-wise, it's obviously pretty much right down the middle. But red America doesn't project out nearly as well as blue America does (Hollywood, newspapers/tv, pop culture, etc.) So they were genuinely surprised on election night 2016.

And which feels more empowering to do:
1. Acknowledge you have been ignoring half the country, and decide to work with them to find a middle ground.
2. Fabricate all manner of shibboleths to "explain away" what happened...Russians, hacking, electoral college, space aliens, whatever.

Obviously, number 2 lets people not have to confront reality. And THAT is much more comfortable for human beings.

If it wasn't for Rush Limbaugh and FoxNews, you almost wouldn't have heard from red America for a long time. But the internet has changed the game...and this is why tech elites have assigned themselves the prerogative of 'reigning in' Red America. Banning language, de-platforming, etc.

There are some interesting insights about Dem and Rep voters here...currently linked on Drudge.

All politics are local. Probably worth noting that Colorado isn't a red state. Hillary won by a pretty comfortable margin. Nor is Wisconsin. Although Trump squeaked out a win, voters have since un-elected a Republican governor. Just looking at the 2016 election results, Iowa looked pretty red. Then in 2018, 2 Congressional seats flipped from R to D.

Generally speaking, regardless of the "color" of the state in question, the city in which the state university is located is very likely to look pretty blue. Especially true if that city isn't a huge metropolis. Iowa City is like Madison or Boulder in that respect. When the city's largest employer is the state university, that's going to have a very strong impact on local politics.

I always joke that I hate to drive from northern WI down to Iowa via Madison. My truck seems to want to turn left on me, no matter what I do.

Yeah craigd... remember when you were protesting on the steps of the U.S. Supreme Court, marching and lighting candles in favor of "Citizens United"??? And remember all those posts you made here wishing for the same outcome???

Me neither.

But it really didn't make any real difference except to Liberal Left Democrats who whine and cry and complain that all the big money goes into Republican campaigns. Nothing could be further from the truth. Large Liberal money has been flooding Democrat campaigns for decades, from Billionaires Soros, Gates, Allen, Bloomberg, etc., to GM and General Electric. Add in the billions of dollars of "intangible" value of 24-7-365 non-stop majority support from the Liberal Media, along with the requisite Republican bashing, and it is plain to see why the Liberals complain about something like the Citizens United decision. They had the upper hand and wanted to keep it at all costs.

Coincidentally, this is also a problem for lobbyists fighting to maintain and preserve our 2nd Amendment Rights. Individual donors to the NRA are largely going up against massive financing and lobbying funded by Liberal left millionaires and billionaires.
Posted By: 2-piper Re: Californians-here is your chance. - 09/26/19 02:53 AM
If 100 Thousand NRA members donate $10.00 each, that has raised 1 Million Dollars. This represents 100,000 voters.

If one Multi-Billionaire donates 1 Million dollars the cash amount is identical, but this represents "!" voter.

The Democrats want to make it "Illegal" for political donations to Silence those 100,000 "Without" silencing their ONE. The media, of course, are trying all in their power to make it appear the NRA is "Buying" elections to help the Dems win their Fight.
