Any help or suggestions are appreciated.
Brian,
I don't remember the name now, but I remember there was a gunshop in Rothenburg/Tauber. This was in the 70s and the shop was inside the city( i.e. inside the city wall). As I recall, they were producing a nice single shot rifle in those days. The owner was young enough that he might still be there. If not, maybe a son or son-in-law. Have a good trip.

I agree with Elenbr on Dschulnig--and they have a good number of used guns from all over Austria. Prices didn't seem bad. Might want to look into Import procedures?
Steve,
There is an advert. in the latest WAIDMANNSHEIL from a new company that may be able to help you.

Rothenburg is a beautiful medieval town and was relatively untouched by the war compared to most German towns. Was only bombed once. A great place to wander around. Even if you don’t find a gun shop you’ll enjoy it. I was amazed how many deer stands on the edge of fields I saw in that area. They love to hunt!
Zurich also has a quaint little gunshot right off the old downtown by the river. Can't remember the name...probably others better to choose from.

Rothenburg was my favorite city in W. Germany when I lived there in the 80’s. It’s absolutely spectacular during Christmas season. Like stepping back in time, it’s Germany I know, but it really had a “Dickens” feel to it. Love that place.
Rothenburg:
