Not guns I'm afraid but someone may be able to assist with this question from their knowledge base. A friend has been offered a quantity of Winchester Primers that he says are number 425. I am familiar with Win 209's but not heard of this one. Can anyone say what it is used for and in what way it differs? Thanks. Lagopus…..

Winchester Australia sold an AA 245 primer some years ago. These were often marked as "magnum" but they were std strength only a larger diameter

Sorry couldn't provide photo as the enquirer contacted me by telephone. Thanks smlekid. Looks like they were some sort of export to be able to reload cartridges with oversize primer pockets. Some modern Eley cases are like that and a standard one just falls out so they may fit those. Lagopus…..
