Does anyone know of a leather worker or shop that can repair straps and hinges on leg-of-mutton shotgun cases?
Do you have any Amish near you ? Had one repair several leather cases for me. Quality work and reasonable. Sorry I can’t give you a phone number. Not a Amish thing in most places. I do have a Amish fellow who has a cell phone which he uses only for business and health emergencies. Keeps t in a mail box all the rest of the time.
Any saddle shop. Maybe a shoe shop, but the saddle and bridle folks can do it easily and already have the right leather....Geo
I needed a couple of new ones and I found the situation on Ebay was dire. Most cases were all broken down. The single intact one went for hundreds and hundreds. So I just bought two lots (9 total) from an auction for a bit over $400. Two or three or four seem to be intact and useable as is, and the rest need repairs.
Kevin McCormack advertises on the PGCA website. He has done many for me, including the total building or rebuilding of trunk cases. He is very good with straps and hinges.
Great information. Many thanks.
Kevin is excellent. His email is kbm7013@gmail.com
