Update 1/9/21 - The update is complete but not without some hair pulling and I don't have much left!

A sideways PHP update and some corrupted files caused a bunch of misfires.

And then the really fun one...who remembers the buried database password from 1996?
Lucky I had it on my super secret decoder ring that was in a safe spot.
The safe spot eluded me for about 4 hours...;-)

Thankfully, I located the password and had a copy of the bad files.

As of now we are back in the saddle....

If you see anything weird please drop me a note.

It will take me a few weeks to get up to speed on any new features so please be patient.

Thank you all for your participation.

Dear Cast & Crew.

There is a major BBS software update planned for early January 2021.
Now would be a good time to remove old and/or unwanted private messages. I have already pruned old want ads prior to August 2020. If you have want ads from then to now that have sold or no longer available please remove them too.

I am hopeful that there will be no issues and have made a full back up on 12/28.
Should things drift sideways the worst case would be a week or so loss of posts and any new membership that register between the 28th and the day of the update.

The board may be closed for a few days. I apologize in advance for any disruption.

Thank you all for your participation and your soon to be tested patience with the update.

**** Update will likely occur within a week of 1/8. Documentation has been submitted just waiting in the job line now.

Dave, just curious here. If my old private messages are unwanted by me, why would I care about safeguarding them from the update? I'm no software expert so no idea what is likely involved. Does it help the update go more smoothly if older, unwanted messages are deleted first?

What he said. Does it help your team if I delete them?

Best,
Ted

Deleting means I have to move, save and backup less data....

Thanks, Dave. I do have a few messages I'd like to save, and will do so.

Best of luck with the update.

Dave, will this update fix the picture posting issues we were discussing last week?

Thanks CJ
Dave, thanks for all the work you do and putting up with some of the bickering that goes on, that hopefully will pass and get back into what we all love...double guns

Let the upgrade settle in and I see what I can do about picture posting.

Right now it takes about 2 hours with required manual assist to back up the forum.

In addition, I don’t have the bandwidth to move the back up files around from home...I have to do it at my real job.

Adding image storage will multiply that time and effort several times.

We shall see.

Anyone else seeing a black diamond with a question mark in it dispersed through postings? Seems to replace some punctuation marks.

"Recently I took delivery of a 28 gauge FAIR Iside SXS boxlock shotgun. It was a special order gun with left hand wood, and reversed double triggers. I ordered the English model with scalloped back frame and ejectors. I can report that I am pleased with the gun. It was made in Italy and imported by the Italian Firearms group in Texas. I had some initial trouble ordering it through the first man I contacted there, but my second contact with a female rep went well. The gun has 15 LOP to the front trigger. That a tad long for me with heavy clothing, but I removed the buttplate and its fine. In a thin shirt 15 works fine. The FAIR idea of cast is not much, about 3/16, so I had to have it bent more for me. The cast off for right hand stocks is about the same. I paid about $75 extra for a left hand stock and $200 for reversed double triggers. Single triggers are standard. The gun weighs 5 lb 4 oz with 28 barrels. It shoots both barrels to the same aiming point and I shoot it pretty well. I was after a lightweight gun I could carry in one hand and this fits the bill. I can encircle the gun at the balance point and my thumb and middle finger touch. Thats small because I have small hands. I have less than $3K in the gun including bending the stock. The delivery time was 10 weeks. Your dealer can place the order directly with the importer. They have a decent inventory on hand. The Iside (Ee see dee) model is available in all gauges. They also make O/U guns in a variety of models and gauges."

Direct from my phone would be great

The only difference that I can see between uploading an image to storage on this site, and uploading the same image to a free photo hosting site is that I need to open a second window the way things are now.... Upload, Copy, Click back to DoubleGunShop.com, and Paste. Hardly a big deal.

It takes me about 15 seconds to do all of that to insert an image into a post here, the way things are now. It is a bit more tedious to post images directly from my phone, but still not bad. Actually, it takes longer to find an image in my image files than it does to post one here. And I do not store any images on a photo hosting site. Look at what happened last year with PhotoBucket.

And think about this... If anything ever happened that caused the loss of images stored here, the whiners and crybabies would blame you Dave, just as the Preacher is now blaming Picture Trail.

By the way, does your favorite double shotgun, rifle, or pistol have a biometric trigger???
