Belgium sourced Jaeger/ Bittiner blitz gun that I thought was built by scholberg /Bittiner but found this mark after my cataract surgery?
Funny found gun problems I didn’t see before as well!
Mark is a LF in an oval see pic. Who’s mark is this?

Yep I looked there but gun was made definitely 1910-1924. Nothing panned out from there.
Littlegun is the go to site for Belgium gun marks but unfortunately turned up 0 this time.
Maybe this LF guy just made action or was engraver. Possibly mark for Belgium gun made for foreign distribution?
Yes and this site will assist in proof dating

Many times in French gunmaking circles, F in the last position is for Frères.

Pete Mikalajunas' site is inactive, but I saved his list of Belgian marks.
He had 'LF' as Leroy Brothers (Frères as Raimey suggested) but they are not listed on the littlegun site. Possibly the actioners.
If you would post full size close ups of every mark on the barrel flats, just forward of the flats, and action flats we might be able to provide more information.

I would have thought the man or people who chiseled those fences would have marked something. Then I found this mark now that I can see.

I would say the encircled LF(Leroy Frères) was for payment & compensation for the mechanic who blind filed the wells in the action or was the actioner. Are there any stamps on the standing breech? Has anyone put their finger on the origin of the adornment, being Belgian or German?

What type ejectors might it wear?

skeettx's source document should rule out production in 1922-3-4, because the gun lacks the single letter dating system that was used starting in 1922.

Turns out this is LE not LF. Stumbled on this after lots of searching. I missed it first time. But this gun was made before LE took over record name? Barrel marks say before 1910-1924 but Le guys supposedly didn’t take over till 1927? Guess they were making frame before they took over Record trademark.

So, would it be assumed that the last name first and 1st name last as the French speaking makers do sometimes? I would think for E. Leruite would stamp <<E.L<< ant not >>L.E.<<, but it is possible.

Now, I haven't put a glass on it, but upon enlargement of the 1st image, it sure looks like the letters >>LF<<?

Gun isn’t here but will double check mark again. Will check twin gun when I can for same mark serial number only 10 digits away.
Now, that is interesting. Same inspector's mark & all?

Just on a cursory inspection, the ejectors look to be the Deeley(1886) in a Box type.

2nd gun same mark but less legible

But may have been LF after all. Thought I found my answer.
Truth is I like the idea of a pair of scholberg guns much better.
I still think it is something >>Frères<<. I wonder if all wear the encircled LF?

New gun (12ga) has ejector out of time, will get better pics of them soon but definitely different than those above. 16ga same action and ejectors but with prince of Wales grip and cheek piece. Haven’t been able to compare side by side but should have 16 back restored pre sept first, I hope!
