I see that the reinvigorated Charles Lancaster is launching a Lancaster Owners Club, in coming weeks. Maybe of interest to those with a gun or rifle - or pistol for that matter.

I have a very late percussion smooth (oval bore) rifle, just stunning quality. Lancaster took a backseat to no gunmaker.

Second that on Lancaster. I have a hammer and a diped-edged SLE. Fine engraving and beautiful wood.

I have a hammer gun with Jones under lever that was converted from pinfire. Very high quality and seem very light for fast shooting. Another someday project gun that I hope to restore just to make a nice display gun.

Wonderful maker; I have often wondered why Chas. Lancasters haven't had the attention garnered by other top-tier makers. I only have one that bought at auction maybe 10-12 years ago. Gil

Made in 1864, and still in use.

Wish I had kept this one.

I like the hammers on Lancasters.
