This is early notice I know, but I received word from my friend who is organizing it that the 2022 event will be held on Feb. 24, 25 and 26. Yes, it is planned to be a three-day event.
Old Hudson Sporting Clays is a beautiful venue outside Sparta, GA. The food and targets there are always first class.
No shoot agenda has yet been released, but as soon as it is I will add it to this thread. Ray just wanted us to have advance notice of the dates so that we can plan ahead.
Stan, I assumed this was in NY before opening it. I saw you were the author so I opened it and learned it is in GA. You might add GA in the title to make the location more clear for those who don't actually open the thread. Just a suggestion my friend. JR
Stan, Is this SxS event an NSCA shoot where scores of individuals are posted and then the scores are sent to the NSCA? Or, is it like the Great Northern, and some other shoots where individual names aren’t identified on the scoreboard, rather only numbers are identified, but no scores are sent to the NSCA?
It's a non-registered shoot, Buzz. You pay no NSCA fees and no scores are sent in. But, the names and scores are definitely posted, for bragging rights, and for the cash and other prizes. Pretty stiff competition. The targets are usually a bit tougher than a "charity shoot", but not tournament grade targets, either.
It has been a one day event in the past. The two days in 2022 allows more events.
There's a nice place to stay overnight not far away, at The Lodge at Lake Oconee. That's where I plan to stay.
Sounds like a good shoot, Stan and at a great club. I’ve been there before. It’s quite a place. Their rental buggies are even Kawasaki mules as opposed to the typical/usual golf carts.
I ain’t worried about 2071. I’m mildly amused by some dude, retired in Detroit, who tells me about his Cub, and his RBL, and how good he is living, and how much dough he has.
Best, Ted ________________________________________________ Facing Windsor, and wearing good shoes, I’m sure.
Might get SanfOrd to take you out in his race boat....
….or the sand rail.
____________________________ The year is 2071. Stan and Ted are trying to get gasoline for their race boat, sand rail and motorcycle.
You and jOe remind me of what I have read about wolverines. They foul a trapper's "set" by urinating or defecating on it. Their foul odor permeates everything around them.
Y'all can foul a thread faster than a wolverine can foul a trapper's set.
OBTW, 2071 is the number of useless posts you have defecated. Now, it's 2072 and sad to say, shows no signs of letting up.
If the long range forecast holds, myself and another individual from upstate SC plan to attend on Saturday. Looking forward to good targets and the traditional fried catfish lunch.
Stan - if you see a Sasquatch-sized individual, I'll be riding along with him...
Sounds great, Gunning Bird. I'll look for you. Not sure yet if I'll be there all three days, but definitely for two of the three. If the weather looks right I'll try to do it on Friday and Saturday.
I'll have my old '96 camoed Club car with shotgun scabbards. Y'all drive careful, now.
First time shooting this even. Any shooters here that have shot the old UP shoot or the Tunnel of Trees. By myself so hopefully can hook up with some one.
Also curious, is a cart needed or is the event walkable?
I'll get there tomorrow and will shoot tomorrow and Friday, but will have to leave for home Friday afternoon. I plan to shoot the Main Hammerless, the Hammergun, the 16 ga., the 20 ga., and the .410 events.
HJ - a quick run down of the scoreboard shows very respectable scores put up by Stan and Tim both. No HOA's but very solid shooting from both of them across all of their events. Old Hudson did a nice job with the tournament. My favorite part was lunch on Saturday - fried catfish.
