Picked up a Husqvarna 310BS. This is my first SXS. Looks pretty good for 1929. Does anyone know if these typically have chamber length markings. This one is measuring 2 3/4. Trying to figure out the best shells to shoot through this, any suggestions? Id like to get it out for some sporting clays but not sure about shooting the shells I have on hand through it. Its choked full/xtra full. Finisher was Oskar Fredriksson. Weighs about 7 pounds.

They are very fine guns! Bobby

Can’t answer your question on chamber length. I just like to measure them. A remarkably easy process. But they are fine guns, very much undervalued in the NA market.

Oskar did a couple sidelocks that belong to some people I know up here in Canada.

I had a 310 AS in 16 gauge that I foolishly sold.

Good score.

Only the very latest Model 310s, 1947 and later, were chambered for 2 3/4-inch (70 mm) shells. The exception was the Model 310X the Pigeon Gun which was chambered for 70 mm shells.

I read that as well so not sure if it was changed at a later date to 2 3/4 or not. It was sold to me as 2 3/4 and my measurements verify this. I was curious if any were made 70mm and if so would they be marked.

I had the barrels of my WW-I vintage 310AS blued by a well respected double gun smith, and when I picked them up, he said he also punched the chambers out to 2 3/4 inch for me!!!!

They are great guns! Killer turkey gun!

I'd be fine shooting 2.5s through this one but cant find any. Since its 2 3/4 I may just stick with some I already have. I have a good stock of 2.5 20s but no 12.

Has anyone tried the Remington Peters paper shells... kind spendy but seems closer to what this shotgun was built around.

Something around 1100 fps should be fine. The hotter 1300 really feel like they thump the gun alot harder

You'll be fine shooting 2 3/4" in your 2 1/2" Husky. Most of my stash of guns are short chambered and I never bother to shorten the hulls. I feel perfectly safe! Most of mine are either damascus or light English guns so I keep pressures, velocities, and shot weights within the bounds they were designed for. IMO your Husky has a lot of extra metal in the barrels and the steel in them and the action are "modern". Enjoy!

I've only shot my 7/8-ounce, 1200 fps, 6300 psi, Remington STS reloads in my 310AS 12-gauge. Wouldn't hesitate to use stouter loads if I took it hunting where I felt that necessary. Once upon a time I took my 1947 vintage 16-gauge Model 310ASE when I went Pheasant hunting with a bunch of yahoos. After they had expended their loads I thought to myself "what the hell" and dropped into the back trigger for the left .030" choke barrel where I had a Remington Express #5, gave cock John a long lead and damn if he didn't fold up. Probably blind luck, but an honest 55-yard shot. I'm sure the great bulk of the Pheasants I've shot in 63 years were under 35 yards.

I need to find a couple of boxes of Gyttorp shotgun shells to display with my Husqvarnas.

A friend posted over on the Parker site awhile back that they are available in velocities of 1145, 1200, and 1290 FPS. I wouldn't hesitate to use the 1145 fps loads in the Husky, if it's sound. Thats my favorite velocity range for most of my shooting anyway. I have no idea what the pressures are on them but, being in paper hulls, I'd be surprised if they were really high. I didn't order any of them when they were introduced. I thought they were a little too pricey.

The newer ones, both hammerless and hammer guns, often had "70" engraved on the rib extension to denote 2.75" chambers. I own/have owned a ton of them from 1880 to 1960's. A couple dozen maybe? Bought another one today as a matter of fact. Great guns, based on Sauer actions and high quality Swedish steel barrels. Hence, beefy and hell for stout.

My 16 gauge 310L has short chambers. Bobby

I'm betting this one was lengthened at some point.
