I enjoyed a few minutes today shooting for the first time my new CZ Bobwhite Southpaw 20 ga. at clays. Smashed 100%.

I've been a big fan of the first CZ Bobwhite 15 years ago when it became my go-to meat stick for upland birds and waterfowl from Montana to Canada to Namibia.

I may like this Gen 2 just as much, particularly with the cast-on for my left-hand fattening face! Two triggers, extractors, choke tubes, run all the steel through it I might want to. Less than $700. What isn't to like (other than it is new and from Turkey)?

I'm a fan first of the old guns. I have English, German, and early American SXS too. But really, why shouldn't most of us active shooters/hunters own one of these???

Didn't know CZ had left-handed guns. Good deal! Now the trick is finding affordable 20-gauge shells. I bought a Bobwhite G2 in 12 for my son 2-years ago now to use much as you have described yours. Had to get the triggers re-done by CZ to get them under 5lbs, but other than that, no complaints. They've gone up a bit, paid a little over $500 for his.

As you've mentioned, these are not "fine" guns, but....they have tons of utility. His will be used for waterfowl as well.

Talk about the triggers.

They both worked!

To what extent........trigger pull weights?

The Turks have gotten better. However, CZ's in particular are still inconsistent. A man with whom I shoot on a weekly basis has a CZ with a trigger pull that's heavier than the weight of the gun. (His is a 28ga.) To give CZ credit, they will reduce pull weight to the weight of the gun. But that's still too heavy for my friend. Another of the regulars also has a CZ 28ga on which the pull weight is close to the gun's weight. Works for him, and he shoots it pretty well. Wouldn't work for me.

I don't have a proper trigger scale, but tried the weight of the gun on each trigger. The pull weight of each trigger is certainly less than the gun, probably around 5lbs. (the gun wt. is advertised as 6lbs., but on my Ohaus digital scale with the 28 inch barrels it is actually 6.5 lbs.). I can however approximate the trigger pull weight by balancing the gun muzzles down on the scale, then watch for the minimum weight as I lift it off the scale repeatedly, one trigger at a time. The front trigger appears to be 5lbs, and the rear trigger ~3.5lbs.

As a left-hand shooter with small hands who prefers double triggers but has never owned one that had the triggers reversed, I've occasionally had guns "double" upon pulling the front trigger when heavy recoil caused me to brush the closer rear trigger. So I'd rather have a rear trigger perhaps heavier that some shooters prefer, and this gun has the heavier trigger up front. Still, no complaints.

I noticed some of the CSMC shotguns have smaller grip diameters.
Too small for me.

Nothing that can't be fixed with duct tape!

Has any body else had a CZ Bobwhite they were not happy with, and which CZ didn't make "right" when asked to?

Over the last 20 years or so I think it has been proven and documented that the customer service/repair center for CZ is very good.
