I have some FN brass here which uses the 0.217" primers

I thought I had some primers here but no
I thought I had a source for some but evidently no

Can anyone here steer me in the direction of some Berdan primers?

Thanks

How do you get berdan primers out of the case/hull??

Berdan decapper or water pressure.

Wamadet Hydraulic de-capper works well(I (if you can find one?)

Berdan primers can be removed by filling the case with water and using a piston, very close to the size of the case mouth, and a hammer to hydraulically force them out. I have seen it done but never was able to do it myself. I think the primers I had were crimped in for machine guns.

I don't know how boxer primers compare in size (.217?) but boxer primers with the anvils removed can be used as Berdan. Haven't done it wouldn't recommend it. It seems impractical unless you really need to do it.

Sounds like a serious PITA. What’s the point?

Berdan primers are easy to remove dry
No water necessary

Seating them is really no different than boxer primers

My only obstacle here is getting my hands on a stash of 5.5mm Berdan primers

Nothing difficult about the process
I have a few hundred primed, never fired cases for the caliber
It would be wasteful to not use them
It's good brass

liverwort,
The 5.5mm Berdan primer is .217" and large rifle Boxer primers are .210. Immediately after the war, Berdan primed cases were converted to Boxer primed by swaging (with hammer, punch, and a rod inside the case to act as an anvil) to displace enough metal from the Berdan case anvil and sides of the primer pocket to close it down to .210" and a flash hole was then drilled. Most cases are now available Boxer primed.

Sometimes you have brass that is just impossible to find, which has the "wrong" primers in it. I've seen a friend convert them as described above. It was labor intensive, but he liked the challenge and explained to me once done he had a lifetimes supply of brass. Funny how the primer invented in the US became more popular in Europe, and the primer invented in Europe became more poplar in the US.
