What KY Jon wrote is on the money, IMO. There is nothing I could have said any better about using a .410 on game birds. I would only note that in experimentation I have developed a crusher .410 load for older, late season doves and quail that utilizes true nickel plated shot, with a measured .73 oz payload at 1150 fps. It is an absolute death ray if you can put the pattern on the bird. It kills equal to my 28 ga. with 3/4 oz. loads.
