I just took delivery of an RBL with the beavertail forearm. Unlike any other breaktop gun I have ever seen, the forearm gaps the underside of the barrels at the forward edge by an honest 1/10 inch (like is just isn't latched properly, which it is). When the gun is closed agasint the assisted openner I can feel and see the wood flex or pivot over, I presume, the latch. At the back of the forearem I can also feel minute movement of the wood against the iron. Called CSM. They said something like, "Yeah, that's the way we build them so the barrels don't overheat." Barrels don't overheat? I haven't heard that one before.

Anyway, can any of you who have a passing familiarity with the RBLs comment on this clearance? Is it really indigenous to the RBLs or is mine the Monday gun? Is there something fragile about the barrels that they can't tolerate heat?

Thanks, guys.

I have a small gap around mine but not as much as you are descibing.
